Our Sweet Boy

So the day had come for our little man to go under the knife. I think I was more nervous that anyone about the whole thing, Buckley seemed fine... The one good thing about his "big" day was that Latin Teacher and I had a "big" day as well. We took the opportunity to enjoy a day off, it just so happened that it coincided with the big US world cup game. So we had a great breakfast after dropping of the big man. Then ran some errands (read: mailed first round of wedding invitations)
:)
Then watched the match on the BFT (Big Freakin' Television) at Bryan's house. Which was interrupted by the news that our DVR was to be installed. So being the good future wife I am, I left the game and went to meet the cable man, with just enough time to spare to see the Amazing goal by the US! (I was still reeling from it for an hour or so) then we went to Tobacco Road to celebrate with the Latin Teacher's teacher friends.

We then came home and took a nap before some gym and chill time. Then the time came, it was time to go get our big man. We had a text from the Vet that he was doing great and ready to be retrieved. Latin Teacher went to pick him up when I was at the gym, and when they picked me up it seemed that nothing had changed. He was still our sweet boy... Just a little more subdued.

We finished the day with a trip to my Aunt and Uncle's house in North Raleigh, we ALWAYS have a good time there!

We did so much on our day off that it felt like a Saturday and I'm glad we didn't spend our big day off on just laying around the house.

And our big man is doing great!

Bridal Shower!!

If it didn't feel official before, it is definitely starting to sink in that I will be the Latin Teacher's Wife in... counting fingers and toes....63 days. I had my bridal shower on Saturday and I don't think it could have been any better!

I was so excited to have (almost) all of my bridesmaids there, they were very helpful.
We discussed different plans for the bachelorette party/ weekend, and did a little mingling with all of the other ladies that were present.

It was so nice having lots of women there that helped raise me. Two of my bridesmaids' moms were my surrogate moms when I was growing up (see below) so we really enjoyed having all of the moms and daughters together for the event.

I got some great gifts, one really special one from my future mother in law; it was a ladies tool box, with duct tape, glue, a lil' hammer, and other around the house things with the thinking that I can do things without Latin Teacher if he's out. I also received some great pieces from my registry and some not. But they are all wonderful and I will be using them all (if I haven't already)!

I can not thank my aunt Carolyn, Grandmother Lila, and my mom who helped put all of this together, there was some great food there and almost all of the ladies were asking for recipes of the dishes for their own meals.

Along with all of the delicious lunch food, the sweets were awesome! The chocolate covered strawberries were to-DIE-FOR!! I took some home on the guise that I was taking them home for Latin Teacher, I think we know who really had them...

All in all, the guests had a really good time (some say it was the best shower they had attended), and I felt like a princess! I could not have asked for anything better!

For everyone that contributed to the event I want to thank you very much, and it really gave me confidence that my wedding is going to be an amazing event.

Here is a little taste of the new grandmothers in a few months....

We have become those people

Latin Teacher and I swore that when we got a dog that we would NEVER dress him up in people clothes... because he's a dog naturally. Well soccer season has gotten the best of all of us already, and this is what resulted.

He hates this...

He looks like he's wearing a nightgown...

All he wants to be is a puppy :)

Catering Tasting and Engagment Party 2

It feels like this wedding is coming so quickly now! Mom, Dad, Latin Teacher, LT's Mom, and I all went to taste test the food from Sisters' Garden and Catering. I know they are a "legend" in Raleigh and have been around for years. I didn't know how amazing they were going to be in handling every aspect of my reception. Rhonda from Sisters will be my reception coordinator, and she has been doing this for many many years, and assures me I will be in great hands. Which I wholeheartedly believe. We left with smiles on our faces and loads of crab dip that the mothers took home as a gift (I'm telling you, these people aim to please like no other).

After we went to Cameron Village to get my dad's "ears lowered" we had a drink at the Village Draft House, and then came home to hangout with the puppy, maybe slip in some winks, and look over the wedding invitations that mom brought from High Point.

" Love is the essence of life"

I am SO lucky to be joining a warm and inviting family. And it is just a wonderful added bonus that Latin Teacher's family has a whole crew of fantastic friends and neighbors. They threw us a party last night, which included lots of great food (the kebabs where so tasty!) and drink, along with cake and our first wedding gifts! They claim they just wanted an excuse to all get together, but I know that they all care so deeply for Latin Teacher, and the lucky lady that found him, that they wanted to show us a good time. Which we had. My parents are so cute, they are really trying to mingle and get to know this crew, because they will be hanging out with them more than I think they know.

After all of the events yesterday, I was very tired, and wonderful Latin Teacher let me sleep all morning (and I mean taking 2 naps before 1pm). I need to get geared up for a WHOLE week of working, and then my bridal shower in High Point next Saturday!
