UPDATE!!

Latin Teacher and I have been trying to get things ready for his parents (Latin Teacher's Parents) and grandfather (Latin Teacher's Grandfather)... oh, this could go on forever.. to come over and see the place.

We have been storing our really nice wine glasses on top of the fridge since we moved in because they wouldn't fit in the actual cabinets (see below). And so I thought it would be a super idea to hang the glasses under the cabinets! It has made a world of difference.. That could be an over statement, but just go with it :)

As you can see, the wine glasses will not fit in the cabinets. This became a big problem when it came to putting everything away. Also, look how organized the coffee mugs look! Oh, owning our own home is doing wonders for our organizational skills!

Pay no mind to the date stamp on the picture, obviously it is not 11/02/2011, our camera just likes to look forward to the future.

Here is Latin Teacher using his NEW drill (LT got it as a wedding present) to mount the contraption. Background: this is the bottom to a wine bottle/glass holder that we kinda (Just go with it) bought off Callie, one of my dear dear friends. We didn't have the wall space for the whole thing, so we improvised with just the bottom part. It was pure genius on our part.

This is was Buckley's input on the whole project. He stole a dish towel and ran around trying to get us to chase him, then just sat down and chewed on it. He's so helpful.

Here is the final result! We are really impressed as how well it came out, and the fact that I changed the date stamp on the camera without completely wrecking it!
Ohh all is good at 6760 Chauncey.

Our New Home!

This is the moving in process of Latin Teacher, Buckley, and I into our new place at 6760 Chauncey Drive in "North Raleigh" we call it Midtown so we're not as far from downtown as we really are :)

Welcome to our home! Come on in!

Here is my loving husband, he loves changing the toilet seats, it's one of the instant gratification things that I think everyone likes. He had three of these to change today. We both feel better having new ones.
This is the epitome of Pioneer Woman, leg cocked out to one side and taking a picture of herself in the mirror. Note the white piece of "furniture" that is to the right side of the screen, this is going to come to its death via Latin Teacher about 10 minutes after this picture. Here it is. He had been longing to take that thing down before we even bought the place.
We needed a beer after all the work we did today, we sure were tired and excited all at the same time! We are so blessed to have a great new home and such wonderful friends and family to support us!
We we left the house this night we were kinda worried about the color of the walls (thought it might be a little dark, but we've gotten over that by now. We really like it and are excited about the other painting we are planning on doing.
This is not the best picture, there had been a lot of work on the house the day this was taken so there was a bunch of dust in the air. You should have seen the place before. I thought I'd gotten a picture of the ceiling before and after. But let me tell you, it was amazing the difference. CTI property services did a superb job!
Mary came to unpack and hangout for a little, she was SUCH a big help in moving, and as moral support as well :)
And to play with a sweet puppy. Who, by the end of the night was being called "Buckle" although he didn't mind as long as you followed everything up by giving him a Charlie Bear which are so easy to find at the Trader Joe's right down the street.

Mom came to visit and install cabinet liners for me (Still protective, what can she say) and took us to Costco my new favorite store. Take notice of the chandilier, it's my new favorite thing in our new house, other than every other item in our place! And CTI installed that as well!
Goodbye Boylan Avenue. You were very good to Latin Teacher and I, we started our marriage with you, started raising a sweet puppy with you and we will come and visit. Promise

First Bread Making attempt

As so of you know I have a strong desire to: hang out with, emulate, and pretty much completely copy a blogger/ writer with the nickname Pioneer Woman.

As part of her awesomeness she has a large blog with a section devoted to cooking, baking, grilling pretty much all things kitchen. (She also has a cookbook).

I was very uber ambitious on Sunday afternoon, and thought... "Sure I can make some bread from scratch, no problem!"

I'm not going to tell you how it turns out just yet, you're going to have to wait in angst and find out...
Hi Guys! I have clean hands here, so I must not be really working yet...

This is Latin Teacher, he's the photographer for the first half of this. After he's done snapping some pictures, he'll sit down and twitter how he's loving married life, you know a young wife making him cinnamon bread while he's drinking beer and watching football.

I melted the butter with a cup of milk and added a packet of yeast (first time using "live" yeast, some reason it was kinda odd), let that sit for like 7 minutes
I put 1/3 of a cup of sugar with 2 large eggs, combine and waited for the butter to melt with the milk.
You're going to put the flour in with the sugar, egg, and butter/milk mixture in two sections... I just ended up putting it all in pretty close succession.

SO here is where most of the elbow work (and wrist... ouch) came into play, you mix and mix and mix for like 20 minutes (there is supposed to be a stand mixer instead of human hand, but mine was at my other house or boat or yacht or something). So you mix and mix until you just stop or give up or the dough has gotten the better of you.

So here I'm putting the dough into the glass bowl that has been in the Microwave with water, getting all warm for the dough to sit in for 2 hour... 2 hours... and rise. I didn't get any rising pictures, honestly because there wasn't much rising. (And I forgot) Oh and the salsa isn't part of this at all, I was just also trying to make dinner at the same time...

OK, other than hand mixing the dough, this was one of the most frustrating parts of the whole event. In the resicpie, PW doesn't mention anything about putting flour on the rolling pin, or the working serface or anything, so when I had to break it out I was a little worried...

Honestly I think this is the best looking this dough has looked yet!, It did kinda feel Pioneer Woman-ish at this point, because darn! That looks like there is a lot of potential with this bread (and the cinnamon and sugar for that reason)

So this looks like a little burrito with cinnamon and sugar, it was also really heavy!!

Also, at this point you're supposed to let it sit and rise for another 45 minuntes, you'll see that after
::cough::
8 hours, there hadn't been much of a rise.

It didn't turn out quite to plan... or PW's (Pioneer Woman) picture, but I think with some more practice it might be a skill... Maybe...

The top started cracking and so I had to take a few bites, just to see if it was edible... you know.

The Possible Proud Parents of.....

A New (to us) Townhome!!

Yes, Latin Teacher and I are becoming adults (gasp) and are in the nitty-gritty of buying our first real home! We having been paying out the You-Know-What for our uber convenient, little bitty apartment downtown. But we've wised up (I guess) and thought it was time to make a place our own.

We have decided on 6760 Chauncey (which is fitting if you're familiar with this guy's name... the penguin)
We are planning on closing the end of September, which does not leave much time for packing and moving and all that good stuff, because we think our lease end October 1 as well. But that's just like us to flail around and getting things done at the very end.

We JUST had the home inspection on Wednesday, which exposed some items that need TLC (by the seller...naturally), but things are moving (haha... literally....).

So if all... of you reading haven't gotten your fill of hanging out with us and being oh so super sweet.. and want to help move in like 2 week.
WFT! (why the face??) That's soon!
Please give us a hand moving as well. You know we can ALWAYS use the help!

Oh here is a little snap shot of the place
HERE is the link if this has you yearning for more pictures.
We look forward to having you all over for a house warming party... after you know... we move in and everything... and get situated... and I learn how to not break things in the kitchen (that could be my next post...)

UPDATE! Latin Teacher and I ARE officially a married couple now (the sweet people at the Francis Marion sent us the paper work) and we LUCKILY made it within the 10 day no-fee limit for the register of deeds (ps. who knew there was a 10 day limit???) I'm working on all that silly name changing stuff now...

un-Officially Latin Teacher's Wife

If any of you know Latin Teacher, you will know he's known for forgetting some key important items, they usually aren't the end of the world. But they are essential.

Well, I have officially started doing it myself.

We get back to Raleigh from Charleston, SC for our Honeymoon... and for some reason we didn't have our officiant mail our wedding license off and brought it with us on the honeymoon.

So before headed to the gym (after lots of eating over the last couple of days) we were going to grab some stamps and mail off the license.

Cut to 5 minutes later when we are FRANTICALLY looking all around the apartment for the license, only then to call the hotel and ask if they had found our very important documents that we might have left in our room. We held our breaths until they came back on the phone to let us know that they had, in fact, kept the bland white envelope with proof of our unity inside.

They will be mailing it to us today and we will send it off ASAP!

... if that's not unofficially - official that I'm his wife, I don't know what is.

Honeymoon!

Hello All!

Latin Teacher and I just got back from our honeymoon in Charleston, SC! We spent our time when we were not eating amazing food in our lovely hotel with the spectacular view of the bridge and King Street.

Our most amazing meal of the entire trip (maybe our relationship) was at McCrady's Restaurant where Latin Teacher had a great beef dish, complete with Foie Gras hollandaise sauce. I had a red snapper with shredded zucchini and squash mixed with Crab pieces. There was also a puree of zucchini as a garnish. It was wonderful and the staff there was very knowledgeable and friendly.

We rented bicycles and spent most of Monday riding through the city on our own grand tour. We biked through all of the shaded streets and beautiful homes.

This was one of our favorites on East Battery, we loved the house color along with the black shutters and the trimmed ivy.

We had a magical time on our Honeymoon and would loved to have stayed longer, but Latin Teacher need to get back to teaching (it starts today), but we fit a great time into a few days and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Ahh it feels so good to be back in Raleigh, married and ready to start this new journey together, we have a few things planned for the near future (house hunting again) so we will keep you up to date on all of it!

Talk to you all later!

We're Married!!

So I'm sure all of you know that Latin Teacher and I were married a little after 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 21, 2010. We had SUCH a wonderful time, and were were SO pleased that everyone was able to be there, and we hope you has as much fun as we did.

Here are a few moments that most people won't be able to see (mostly because they were behind the scenes shots)

The Jerky was part of my lunch for the day, Callie and I seemed to think it was fitting

There was almost some crying here, but we all pulled it together...

There will be many more to come, we have to wait something like 6 weeks for the good stuff to come. Our wonderful photographer did post a sneak peek of the groomsmen from earlier in the day (before the bridesmaids and bride got out there in the heat).

I'm going to have some more from the honeymoon soon!

Here are some pictures from the handi-work the lovely ladies at my work did on my last day before the wedding!

This says "Future Mrs. McCants"

Talk to you all soon!!
